Why is Macula Saffron good for you?
Good source of carotenoid antioxidants
Saffron is a spice made from the flower of Crocus sativus. Its characteristic taste and aroma come from the antioxidants Picrocrocin and Safranal. Its colour is due to the antioxidant carotenoid Crocin.
Carotenoids, like Lutein and Zeaxanthin, are important components of the macula. They are not synthesised by the body and must be obtained from the diet. Carotenoids are strong antioxidants and thought to reduce the effects of oxidative stress on the macula.
Active ingredients (per capsule): Crocus sativus (Saffron) 20mg, Tagetes erecta (Marigold) powder (Lutein 10mg; Zeaxanthin 2mg).
Other ingredients: gelatin, cellulose, calcium hydrogen phosphate.
Recommended intake: 1 capsule per day.
Store in a cool, dry place. Saffron antioxidants are a food supplement and can only be of benefit if you have a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet.
